I finally spoke to my doctor about the results of my tests. He confirms the lab found inflammation in my duodenum (first section of the small intestine) but his visual says that’s not the case. It could be the lab being extra cautious.
However, it indicates there could be bacteria behind the issues I’ve been having; the treatment for which is a short, but very strong, course of antibiotics. He’s posting me a script which I’ll fill when I return to the UK and will start taking right away.
Once done, if I’m still having frequent (explosive) diarrhoea and difficulty in keeping my weight up, they’ll look at the next step…
…which will be me swallowing a pill which contains a camera and it taking pictures of the additional 15ft of intestine the camera-on-a-rod couldn’t reach.
I’m happy progress is being made…
