Due to recent travels, I’ve been in a position where I’ve wanted to share photos with various people: friends, family, others, etc. This last batch, I’ve uploaded to Facebook.
The key benefits of Facebook are: Most of the subjects are on facebook, you can tag photos, you can comment on them, the interface is reasonable to use.
There are however downsides to Facebook too: Not everyone has an account (though you can email a public link), and key, especially for my Inca shots, the photos are resized to about 600×600, which considering they were originally 10MP pictures, is crap.
Flickr on the other hand allows you to upload full size (or at least, much bigger than Facebook), allowing people to download a high res image for their own use. The downsides are that they can’t be tagged, and also they require special advertising to friends as they’re not announced on a feed.
I’m leaning towards publishing them in both places, but wonder if anyone has other suggestions I may not have considered.
